Android  is a Linux-based operating system designed for touch screen mobile devices such as smart phones and tablet computers. Android, Inc. founded in Palo Alto, California, in October 2003 by Andy Rubin (founder of Danger), Rich Miner (founder of Wildfire Communications, Inc.), Nick Sears (former VP of T-Mobile), and Chris White (head of design and interface development WebTV ) to develop "smart mobile devices that are more aware of its location and preferences". The initial purpose of the Android development is to develop an operating system that is intended for sophisticated digital camera, but then realized that the market for such devices is not large enough, and then diverted to the development of the Android smart phone market to compete with Symbian and Windows Mobile (Apple iPhone has not been released on at that time).
